BOOK REVIEW (Memoirs of a geisha by ARTHUR GOLDEN)

A literary sensation and runaway bestseller, this brilliant debut novel memoirs of a Geisha book reviewpresents with seamless authenticity and exquisite lyricism the true confessions of one of Japan’s most celebrated geisha.

In Memoirs of a Geisha, we enter a world where appearances are paramount; where a girl’s virginity is auctioned to the highest bidder; where women are trained to beguile the most powerful men; and where love is scorned as illusion. It is a unique and triumphant work of fiction – at once romantic, erotic, suspenseful – and completely unforgettable.

I’ve gone for so long, this book was supposed to be finished 3 months ago. I did finish it but I didn’t have time to write the review. sorry 😦 !!

But at least, I returned with a good book. it’s about a little girl whose mother was dying because of cancer and remembering this just makes me sad because my dad was suffering from cancer and he passed away  last month 😥 .

she was only 9 not just that she and her sister were taken by people who their job was to take pretty and healthy girls from their families at a young age to learn how to be a geisha or to do other things that are disgusting  but they got separated. She tried to run away many times but that only make things worst. Until she knew that her mother and father had died and she started to accept her life and work hard to be a good one.

Being a Geisha is not only wearing a lot of makeup and a certain type of clothes. I’ve to admit I bought this book and I didn’t know anything about them except they put a white powder on their faces. Yeah I know I have zero knowledge :/ . They were taken from their families at a young age, they spend years to learn how to be a good geisha, they have a special school for them. They learn how to sing and how to dance.

Then she falls in love which was a better reason to be a Geisha. She got people who helped her in her life and people who hurt her feelings and her body. She was broken sometimes and she broke some people’s hearts. I can’t describe how this book is amazing but it’s wonderful.

If you haven’t read it yet, you’re missing a lot. It’s one of the books that after you finish it you say wow, you hug it and feel sad and stupid for reading it so fast. I also searched on Google to see what was written about this book and I saw pictures of a movie ❤ . So, I’ve to write a review about the movie too.

If you haven’t read it yet you can get it from here.
